Singles: Asher Roth - Common Knowledge (prod. by Blended Babies)

Before you guys start smirking at the fact that I'm actually putting up an Asher Roth cut, lemme just explain..

Obviously, his first couple of albums I really haven't and prolly won't ever give a chance, but lately on mixtape appearances (specifically that Pop Chips tape) he's managed to put together some highly worthy verses IMO .. ao when I came across this loosie from his upcoming "Pabst & Jazz" mixtape I was a lil' more receptive.. again, he's managed to make a semi-believer outta me..

Miss Venezuela crowned Miss World in London

Image: Ivian Sarcos

A human resources graduate from Venezuela, whose ambition is to work with children, was crowned Miss World 2011 at a glittering beauty pageant in London on Sunday.

Ivian Sarcos, 21, took the ultimate beauty accolade at Earls Court in London, the city where the first Miss World was staged in 1951.

Outside the venue, a small feminist demonstration took place, protesting at what they said was an "appalling offence against women's equality."

The beauty contest was broadcast live to more than 150 countries and was watched by a billion viewers, organisers said.

The competition has drawn criticism in recent years for being outdated and little more than a chance to look good in swimwear.

But of the 122 contestants whom Sarcos beat, a quarter are graduates and more than half speak three or more languages.

Sarcos, who currently works for a broadcasting company, said her future ambition was to work with non-governmental organisations and children, according to the Miss World web site.

She has already created her own foundation to help youngsters.

Her hobbies include volleyball, mountaineering and trekking.

One of 13 children, Sarcos said her proudest moment was "when I did my Communion."

Next year's Miss World will be held in China's Inner Mongolia.

One half of Foriegn Exchange, Netherlands-born and bred producer Nicolay is back with a new and free EP he put together with the superb Raleigh, NC based, experimental Jazz trio, The Hot At Nights...

Here at PHH, Jazz, and specifically a healthy love for it as well as perhaps an obscene record collection of it are sorta pre-req's.. Personally, I'm pissed that more people don't know about the talents that Nicolay has been flexin for years, both alongside Phonte in F.E., but also as a solo instrumentalist.. Peep this out and tell me my anger isn't warranted..

Really great music here.. if you love this, and it's likely you will, peep the link here to see when Nicolay and The Hot At Nights are hitting yo town for a live engagement...

Ivian Sarcos, 21, Wins Miss World Pageant 2011

Ivian Sarcos, a 21-year-old human resources graduate from Venezuela, was crowned Miss World 2011 at a glittering beauty pageant in London's Earls Court on Sunday (6th November 2011). However, the event was marred by a demonstration outside the venue, with a group protesting at what they called "an appalling offence against women's equality", reports Reuters.

The show, broadcast live to more than 150 countries and watched by a reported billion people, saw the bookies favourite Miss Venezuela scoop the ultimate prize. Sarcos currently works for a broadcasting company, but says she wants to work with non-governmental organisations to help children - she already has her own foundation. The graduate, one of 13 children, enjoys hobbies including volleyball, mountaineering and trekking. The protestors criticised the pageant for being outdated, but of the 122 contestants, a quarter were graduates and more than half spoke three or more languages. Sarcos will now spend a year visiting and supporting a range of global charities, supported by 'Miss World's Beauty With a Purpose Programme'.

Representing the UK, Miss England Alize Mounter and Miss Scotland Jennifer Reoch both made it to the top seven. Miss Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais, was named runner-up at the glitzy ceremony in London.

Singles: K-Def - Supa Heath (LP Version)

No samples at all??? K-Def is still light years ahead of the game...

"Incredibly, this beat features no samples... All of the sounds you hear were replayed / reprogrammed masterfully by K-Def. This version appears on K-Def's upcoming Night Shift project which will be available in December 2011 on vinyl, CD, cassette & MP3 on Redefinition Records.Night Shift features 2 vocal tracks (Rob O & Raw Poetic) and a handful of instrumentals."

Singles: Scheme - Lord Knows (Remake)

Chi-Town Latino repper Scheme is back on the scene...

With his much better rendition of a rap song over a beat that's more widely known as one of Aubrey's tracks, Scheme does all Molemen fans proud and proves yet again the dexterity of Hip-Hop in many forms..

Yeah, I'mma roll with this version I think..

Be on the look out for "Life I Chose", droppin' December 6th..
